Punjab Vigilance nabs PSPCL employee taking Rs.7,000 bribe

State Vigilance Bureau today arrested meter reader of PSPCL for taking bribe of Rs. 7,000.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said meter reader Jaspal Singh posted at PSPCL sub-division Dharmkot, Moga district was arrested on the complaint of Gursewak Singh of Village Jindra, district Moga.

The complaint has approached the VB and alleged that the above said meter reader was demanding Rs. 15,000 for facilitating to get clearance report from the laboratory regarding his domestic meter which got burnt at his house.

After verifying his information, a Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused meter reader was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 7,000 of first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under of Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
