Punjab Vigilance nabs Police Sub-Inspector red-handed accepting Rs.23,000 Bribe

State Vigilance Bureau nabbed a Sub Inspector red handed for accepting bribe of Rs 23,000/-.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Sub Inspector Gurinder Singh posted at Ameer Khas police station, Fazilka was nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 23,000 from complainant Karnail Singh resident of Sukhera Bodlan, Fazilka district.

The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused has been demanding Rs. 1 Lakh to register a police case against the accused persons but the deal was struck to pay the bribed amount in two installments of Rs. 50-50 thousand each. He further informed that he had already paid Rs. 27000/- as a first installment to the above said sub inspector.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused sub inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 23,000/- as a second installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
