Punjab Vigilance nabs ASI for taking Rs.5,000 bribe

Chandigarh, July 23: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at Dharmkot Police Station, Moga red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5000/-.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Gurpreet Singh was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Sukhmander Singh of village Bhinder Kalan, Moga district.

The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs 5,000 to help him in a complaint case regarding land dispute.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 5000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused VB police station Ferozepur and further investigation was under progress.
