Punjab VB books Depot holder, Sarpanch, 2 others for misappropriating Wheat Quota

Punjab Vigilance Bureau today registered a criminal case against a fair price shop owner (Depot holder) Purshotam Lal, his wife Sonia, village Sarpanch Rajni and Committee Member Diwan Chand for misappropriation in distribution of wheat under PDS in village Khiala, Pathankot district.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Purshotam Lal was running a depot at village Khiala, Pathankot and was allocated wheat for distribution to BPL families.

As per enquiry conducted by Food and Civil Supplies Department, 229 blue cards were issued to BPL families in this village. In this connection, 138 quintal wheat was allocated to this shop during the period of December 2014 to March 2017.

He further stated that Purshotam Lal in connivance with Sarpanch Rajini and others usurped the wheat which was supposed to be distributed to poor families. But this wheat was not distributed to the beneficiaries under the public distribution scheme implemented by Punjab Government.

He informed that a criminal case in this regard has been registered at VB police station Amritsar u/s 409, 420, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of IPC to probe the allegations of which was under progress.
