The Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Punjab has sought applications from eligible students from minority community (Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Parsi & Jain) for post-matric and merit-cum-means scholarship schemes.
The eligible students can apply online at National Scholarship Portal, www.scholarships.gov.in and further information can be checked at website, www.minorityaffairs.gov.in. This scholarship would be awarded for academic session 2019-20.
While providing further information, Mr Parminder Singh Gill, Deputy Director, Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Punjab, informed that students from the minority community studying in government/affiliated senior secondary schools/colleges/universities etc can apply for post-matric scholarship.
The students applying for this scholarship should have got at least 50% marks in their previous final examination, their family’s annual income should not be more than Rs 2 lakh, should be a resident of Punjab and this scholarship would be awarded to a maximum of two students from one family.
Besides this, the students studying in graduate/post graduate level technical or professional courses in affiliated institutes of Punjab government, can apply for merit-cum-means scholarship. The students applying for this scholarship should have got at least 50% marks in their previous final examination, their family’s annual income should not be more than Rs 2.5 lakh, should be a resident of Punjab and this scholarship would be awarded to a maximum of two students from one family.
Mr Parminder Singh Gill informed that the last date for applying (new applications and renewal cases) is October 31, 2019. He urged the eligible students to avail full benefit of these scholarships.
