Punjab Revenue Officers upset with criminal cases against Circle Revenue Officers, to boycott work on Monday

Chandigarh, March 14, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Revenue Officers Association has decided to boycott all type of work including registration and EM duties on Monday, March, 15, 2021 to protest against what they termed ‘illegal action’ against some Circle Revenue Officers posted in the district of Tarn Taran.

Gurdev Singh Dham, president of the association, in a press release issued here Sunday said that a virtual meeting was held today to discuss repercussions of criminal cases registered against some Circle Revenue Officers of Tarn Taran on the basis of an inquiry conducted by Development Officer instead of an inquiry by the office of the Department of Revenue.

Dham said, all the Revenue Officers and the Executive Committee of the Association was very upset with the happenings. They raised a question as to how an officer from Development and Panchayat Department can recommend an action against Revenue officers just to shift their burden of error, after a gap of 30 years, and how Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran consented with this baseless report and decided to send it to the police for action.

“It is sheer misuse of powers of police to entangle Revenue Officers on the behest of the political leaders,” the Association observed.

In view of the above, the Association decided that all the Revenue Officers will boycott all type of work including registration and EM duties on Monday to protest against this illegal act.

The association said further course of action will be decided on Monday through another virtual meeting.

Dham said this decision has been conveyed to the Minister of Revenue and Rehabilitation Punjab, Financial Commissioner Revenue, and to all the DCs through respective emails.
