Punjab provides financial assistance of Rs. 21.25 lakh to family of Jagmel Singh

Punjab PWD Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Thursday joined the Antim Ardas of youth Jagmel Singh at Changaliwala village where he handed over a cheque of Rs. 14 lakh towards financial assistance to the family members as announced by the Punjab Government.

Expressing heartfelt sympathies and solidarity with the bereaved family, the Minister said as per the directives of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh a total financial assistance to the tune of Rs. 21.25 lakh had been given to the Jagmel’s family, of which another cheque of the Rs. 14 lakh was given today.

On the occasion, the Minister also gave an appointment letter to Jagmel’s wife Manjit Kaur for joining as Group-D employee in Government Senior Secondary School, Gobindgarh khokhar besides a cheque of Rs. 1.25 lakh for the repair of house of the deceased.

The Minister also announced that Jagmel’s widow, who has been appointed as peon, would be soon posted at the school nearest to her residence. The entire expenditure of Bhog was borne was the State Government.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Vice Chairperson of Punjab State Planning Board Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg and SDM Kala Ram Kansal were also present.

Reiterating Punjab Government’s resolve to ensure stringent punishment for culprits, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that acting upon directives of the Chief Minister the local police had filed the Challan in the court within seven days. The entire legal process will also be completed within three-four months. The State Government was fully committed to maintain law and order in the state so as to prevent recurrence of such unfortunate incidents in future.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairperson of Punjab State Planning Board Rajinder Kaur Bhattal assured the family the Punjab Government was stood by them in this hour of grief. She said that the State would leave no stone unturned to get the severest of the severe punishment to the culprits involved in this brutal and inhuman act.
