Punjab Police book Bains Brothers and supporters for flouting COVID norms, leading ‘violent protest’

Patiala Police today evening booked Bains Brothers Simranjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains (Both MLAs) and their supporters for violating COVID norms and causing instructions in duty of government employees and officials.

Divulging the details, SSP Vikram Jeet Duggal said that a case under section 353, 354, 332,186,188,149,269,270 of IPC and 51of Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 3 of Epidemic Disease (Amendment) Ordinance 2020 has been registered at Civil Line Police Station Patiala, in this regard.

He further said that the accused nominated in this case included Simranjit Singh Bains (MLA), Balwinder Singh Bains (MLA), Navdeep Singh s/o Tina Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Preetinder Singh,Manvinder Singh, Jagjodh Singh, Preetinder Singh, Manjit Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Phulpreet Singh, Sukhdev Singh,Randhir Singh, Gurmit Singh, Rajinder Singh khaira, Bhim Singh, Jagjodh Singh, Laxman Singh, Amarjit Kaur, Kamaljit Kaur,Amrik Singh Khalsa and 300 unknown persons.

Giving the further details, SSP said that today a call was given by Lok Insaaf party to gather at PUDA ground Patiala to protest against Cabinet Minister S. Sandhu Singh Dharamsot and to take out protest march in city.

Around 1500 persons reached PUDA ground under the leadership of Simranjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains in 70/80 buses and in large number of other 4 wheelers.

They were requested by police officers and duty magistrate not to organize such a gathering keeping in view Covid epidemic and 144 CrPC orders of District magistrate Patiala but they didn’t bother and flouting the guidelines of Covid-19 took out protest march.

They were stopped at Polo ground, Patiala where again they were requested by senior police officers and duty magistrate Patiala SDM Charanjit Singh to stop but instead they started pushing and misbehaving with police officials deployed for Law and order duty and attacked them. During this attack SI Balwan Singh along with 4 other police officials (Including 2 lady Constables) got injured and injured police personnel got admitted in Rajindra Hoapital Patiala and later on discharged.

After seeing the all channels failed to stop the violent protestors, light force was used to maintain Law and order and to disperse the protesters, after taking due orders from duty magistrate.
