Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi to host Annual Art Exhibition 2019, give away Awards at Chandigarh on Nov 22

Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi is organising its Annual Art Exhibition 2019 along with distribution of awards to the Award winners on Friday 22nd November 2019 at 5.15 pm at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16 B, Chandigarh.

Artworks by professional artists, student artists and senior artists from Punjab and Chandigarh, carefully selected by the judging committee and selection committee, will be on display during this much awaited art event of the year in the region.

Total 124 artworks by 99 artists from Punjab and Chandigarh are being exhibited in this exhibition.

In the professional section three Awards of Rs. 50,000/- each will be given to Mr. Charanjit Singh from Kharar for his mix-media artwork “Serving Fields”; Ms. Manjot Kaur from Mohali for her video installation “Its Happening While Rotating and Revolving” and Mr. Tulsi Ram from Kaimbwala for his sculpture “Shelter.

In the students section five Awards of Rs. 25,000/- each will be given to: Ms. Ramneet Kaur from Ludhiana for her installation “A World of Me”; Ms. Anjali Gaur from Chandigarh, for her mix-media artwork “Memory Alive”; Mr. Gunda Rohith from Chandigarh for his sculpture “Think Sacrifice”; Ms. Srishti from Chandigarh for her Drawing “Untitled” and Mr. Sun Robin from Chandigarh for his painting “Ghutan”.

The two person jury consisting of internationally acclaimed artists Jagannath Panda and Anun Kumar HG, from Delhi, recommended the names for the Academy Awards for this year’s exhibition. This is a much awaited art event of the year in the region.

172 artworks were received for Professional category out of which 42 works are selected and 191 artworks were received for Student category out of which 47 works are selected.

Artists from Punjab and Chandigarh were requested to submit entries in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, graphics/print making, photography, drawing, mixed-media, installation, video installations and other related discipline.

Along with these selected artworks, Akademi has invited senior and established artists to give their artworks so that the Annual Art Exhibition becomes truly representative of the art created in the region in recent years.

Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi organizes its Annual Art Exhibition every year to encourage talented artists by giving awards and also by showcasing the art created in this region.

An aesthetically designed and professionally printed 288 page book, “Kala Punjab 2019” with the reproduction of all the artworks represented in this exhibition, portraits of all the participating artists and detailed report on all the programmes organised by the Akademi since July 2018 till date, will also be released by Shri Ranbir Kaleka on this occasion.

Apart from the opening on 22nd at 5.15 pm the exhibition will remain open from 23rd to 30th November 2019 daily between 11.00 am and 7.00 pm at the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi Gallery, Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16 B, Chandigarh.
