IPL franchise Punjab Kings has extended its support to the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League, reinforcing its commitment to developing emerging cricketing talent in Punjab and creating a stronger pathway from grassroots cricket to the professional game.
Organised by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA), the league will be played from August 30 to September 13 at the I.S. Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Six teams will compete in 27 matches, bringing together established players and promising cricketers from across the state.
The tournament features marquee names such as Shubman Gill, Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Ramandeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar, alongside emerging talent.
The partnership will enable Punjab Kings to engage more closely with the state’s talent ecosystem, including identifying promising players at an earlier stage and supporting their development before they reach the higher levels of the professional game.
PCA Secretary Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said Punjab has a strong cricketing culture and has consistently produced players who have represented the state and country. He said the Sher-E-Punjab T20 League would provide an important platform for young cricketers, while Punjab Kings’ involvement would further strengthen the link between grassroots and professional cricket.
Punjab Cricket Association President Amarjeet Mehta said the association with Punjab Kings would add significant value to the league and help create a more sustainable pathway for emerging players.
Punjab Kings CEO Satish Menon said the franchise’s role in Punjab extends beyond match-day activities.
“We want to be part of making sure the next lot get the platforms and support to go all the way. Backing the Sher-e-Punjab T20 League is a real step towards that,” he said.
Punjab Kings has also undertaken community initiatives in the state, including relief efforts during last year’s floods and a classroom programme for children.
The franchise will continue working with the league during the season, with further details of the collaboration expected to be announced later.
