District Food Supply Controller Vandana Kamboj stated that bringing paddy from other states and selling it in the district’s grain markets is illegal. To prevent this, strict monitoring and checkpoints have been set up along the borders adjoining neighboring states.
She said that according to the Punjab government’s directives, crops brought in from other states will not be allowed to be sold in the district’s markets. The government has issued clear instructions that produce from outside Punjab should not enter Punjab’s mandis. Accordingly, vehicles at interstate barriers are being thoroughly checked.
Vandana Kamboj added that the government’s guidelines are being followed meticulously, and special teams have been deployed to detect and seize any paddy arriving from outside states.
She further mentioned that a comprehensive plan has been put in place to curb black marketing by stopping such inflow at every entry point into the district. Legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in such illegal activities.
Following directions from the district administration, all mandi officers and market committee secretaries have been instructed to maintain a strict watch to ensure that no paddy from other states is sold in local markets.
She emphasized that since the district shares its border with Rajasthan, there is a higher possibility of outside crops being brought in. Therefore, special interstate border checkpoints have been established to ensure close surveillance and prevent unauthorized entry of paddy from neighboring states.
