Chandigarh/Patiala, August 26 (Yes Punjab News):
In a shocking incident, Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has directed a high-level inquiry after reports emerged of a dog carrying an infant’s head near Ward No. 4 of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, around 5:30 pm on Tuesday.
Immediately after being informed, Dr. Balbir Singh instructed hospital authorities and local police to thoroughly investigate the case. He confirmed that the recovered head was handed over to the forensic department for detailed examination.
Rajindra Hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr. Vishal Chopra, submitted a preliminary report stating that all newborns delivered in the hospital are accounted for and no infant is missing. He further clarified that while three child deaths were recorded recently, the bodies were duly handed over to their families after completing official procedures, including proper documentation and signatures.
Dr. Chopra added that the incident does not appear to have originated inside the hospital. “Prima facie, it seems someone dumped the remains of an infant from outside,” he said.
The hospital administration has alerted the police, and a comprehensive investigation is underway to trace the source of the remains.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh assured that the Punjab government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and pledged that all aspects will be probed thoroughly to ensure accountability.
