Punjab Health Minister Balbir Sidhu flags off 81 Scooters for TB Supervisors

In order to provide quality health services at the doorsteps of Tuberculosis patients in the state, Health and family welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu flagged off the 81 scooters at the Sub-divisional hospital (SDH) in Kharar on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that a total of 81 vehicles have been provided to the Senior Treatment Supervisors and Senior Treatment lab Supervisors (STS/STLS) who will visit houses of T.B. patients to enquire about their well-being and would ensure that the patients were being given essential medicines in a proper way.

Apart from that, these field workers would get information about any suspected T.B. patient in his house and nearby area and if any patient is identified, they will facilitate his transportaion to the nearest government health facility for proper testing and treatment.

The Minister said that there are a total of 215 T.B treatment supervisors in the state health department, out of which 134 were already having these vehicles and with today’s addition, all the supervisors will be having the vehicles, which will further play key role in the eradicaion of tuberculosis in the state in the near future.

Mr. Sidhu said the under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh, State government is fully committed for providing best health care to the people of state and no compromise can be made with the health of the people.

On the occasion, acceding to the long pending demand of the Kharar residents, he announced that a separate mother and child (MCH) ward would be established in the Sub-divisional hospital (SDH) Kharar, which will be equipped with all modern medical facilities. He said the construction work for the building will begin in the coming days.

Throwing light on the Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna (SSBY), the Minister said the scheme will cover the health insurance of Rs. 5 Lakh per family per year and ensure the secondary and tertiary health services. He said that as many as 46 lakh families will be covered under this scheme across the state.

Amongst those present on the occasion were Political Secratery to the Minister Mr. Harkesh Chand Sharma, Director Health Dr Jaspal Kaur, Director ESI Dr Jagpal Singh Bassi, Civil surgeon Dr Manjit Singh, State T.B. officer Dr Jastej Singh Kular, Dr Shingara Singh, Dr Surinder Singh.
