The Jalandhar Administration has received appreciation from the Punjab Governor Mr. Banwarilal Purohit for ensuring 100 percent function household tap water in 2.23 lakh rural households of district.
In an appreciation letter, the Governor Banwarilal Purohit said that the District Jalandhar has achieved the milestone of 100 percent functional household tap connections under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ scheme, which is a commendable work of Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and his team.
Pertinently, the Prime Minister Office had also already congratulated the District Administration through a tweet for this endeavour. By ensuring 100 percent Functional Household Tap Connection to all habitations under Jal Jeevan Mission, Jalandhar District became 12th district having Har Ghar Jal in the state, which is also appreciated by the PMO recently in its tweet.
Buoyed over the achievement, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the Centre had given a timeline to accomplish this task by 2024 but with the stupendous efforts the district administration completed the project in January 2022 against the target of March 2022 fixed by the Punjab Government. He said that there was total 960 habitations with 2,23,400 households having 11,11,618 population.
Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that all 2.23 lakh rural households of Jalandhar would now get potable tap water in their homes.
