The Punjab Government would honour 550 world renowned Nanak Nam Leva personalities on the 550th Parkash Purb Celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minster Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi held a meeting with the senior officials of the Punjab Government in this regard here today.
The Tourism & Cultural Affairs Minister Mr. Channi said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would honour the eminent Guru Nanak Nam Leva personalities in a series of functions which were being organised to celebrate 550th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
These personalities would be the ones who have faith to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and follow his teachings. They will be from different walks of life and would be those who have contributed towards the society or have excelled in their chosen profession, in line with true spirit of the teachings of first Guru.
The Minister said that these personalities would be from India and Abroad. He said that they are focusing on to reach to such personalities all across the globe. The Punjab Government has also issued an advertisement in which organisations can nominate/individuals can send their names/ or individual can recommend names of such individuals who they think are fit to receive such honour. These names can be sent or proposed irrespective of caste, creed, religion and Nationality.
The Minister also constituted a five member committee to cull out all such names those who are fit to receive this honour. This committee would personally and from other sources of information search names of such personalities and put forward before a committee of Chief Secretary for finalisation of the names.
The Minister disclosed that to honour these personalities a grand function would be held at IKGPTU, Kapurthala on November 10 where Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh would honour these personalities.
Others prominent present in the meeting included Mr. Rahul Tewari Secretary Employment Generation, Mr. S. S Srivastava IG Intelligence, Prof. MPS Isher VC MRSPTU, Bathinda, Mr. AS Sekhon AMD PGRKAM, Mr. Mohanbir Singh Sidhu Additional Director Technical Education, Mr. Lakhmir Singh Additional Director Punjab Tourism, Dr. Senu Duggal Additional Director Public Relations, Mrs Daljit Kaur Additional Director Technical Education, Dr. ES Johal Dy. Registrar PTU and other senior officials of the Tourism & Cultural Affairs Department.
