Punjab Govt should provide immediate relief to people by resolving power crisis: Parminder Dhindsa

Chandigarh, July 09, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Senior Leader of Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt), MLA and former Finance Minister Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa demanded immediate relief to the people who have been forced to face the ongoing power crisis in Punjab. He said that the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh should take immediate cognizance of the issue and should ensure it is resolved on a priority basis.

Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa also expressed concern over the recent power failure in Punjab due to technical failure of one unit of public sector Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant, Ropar and closure of two units of private sector Talwandi Sabo Thermal Plant.

In a statement Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that people of the State are already suffering due to extreme heat and negligent behaviour of the State Government for not making adequate arrangements for uninterrupted power supply.

“It is really unfortunate to see that how people of the state have been left on the receiving end not only because of power crisis but because of Powercom purchasing power at exorbitant prices, hence burning a hole in the pocket of common man,” said Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa.

He said that Capt. Amarinder Singh had promised to provide at least eight hours of power supply to the farmers of Punjab which has now become nothing much than a bogus promise. He said the fake promises made by Punjab Government has put the people of the state in an even more troublesome situation this summer season as the paddy sown by the farmers during the paddy sowing season is drying up due to power shortage.

Sh. Dhindsa said that in the present situation people living in the rural and urban areas of the state were in mourning due to a shortage of electricity.

“On one hand the farmers were struggling against the black laws imposed by the central government, while on the other instead of providing relief to the farmers the Punjab government is increasing the problems of the farmers by not providing the adequate power supply,” said Sh. Dhindsa.

It may be recalled that Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukat) President and Rajya Sabha Member Sh. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa had earlier written a letter to the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh seeking immediate relief to the people by finding a suitable solution to the power crisis.
