Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora announced the formation of three specialized committees to recommend comprehensive reforms for the state’s textile industry.
Each committee will focus on a core segment—spinning & weaving, apparels, and dyeing & finishing—with a deadline to submit recommendations by 1 October 2025.
Committee Leadership & Focus Areas
- Spinning & Weaving Committee
- Chair: SP Oswal, Vardhman Textiles
- Includes representatives from ADC Ludhiana, Trident Ltd Barnala, CII Punjab council, Amritsar and Ludhiana textile associations
- Apparels Committee
- Chair: Sandeep Jain, Monte Carlo Fashions Ltd, Ludhiana
- Supported by ADC Ludhiana and industry leaders from Saluja Group, Jawand Sons, Knitwear & Textile Club, and several apparel manufacturers
- Dyeing & Finishing Committee
- Chair: Rajnish Gupta, Bala Ji Dyeing
- Backed by ADC Ludhiana and members representing dyeing associations and processing units from across Punjab
Each committee includes diverse industrial representation to ensure that recommendations reflect the state’s unique manufacturing landscape. Additional members may be added based on government discretion.
Mission & Support Structure
The committees will develop a sector-specific, best-in-class industrial policy by benchmarking practices from other states, tailoring them to Punjab’s economic ecosystem. Administrative coordination will be led by each committee’s Member-Secretary, supported by the District Industries Centre and Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion.
Objective
This initiative aims to enhance ease of doing business, revitalize the textile value chain, and position Punjab as a leading textile manufacturing hub.
