Chandigarh, January 24, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
After winning the 9th IHAI National Women Ice Hockey Championship at Kaza, Himachal Pradesh, the winner team on their way back to Ladahk was felicitated here today at Punjab Raj Bhawan by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh.

Welcoming the team and congratulating them on their feat, Shri Purohit said that it is indeed great to know that most of the girls hailing from remote villages of Ladakh have made their way into the team and won the National Championship. Saluting the girl power on the National Girl Child Day, Shri Purohit said that Ice Hockey is a rough game played in grueling conditions; rural girls making their mark in this game indeed deserves to be appreciated.

Wishing them all the best for future endeavors, Governor said that seeing the rural girls rising and shining at the international level in the future, will be a proud moment for all Indians. He hoped that the small interaction during the team’s transit visit would promote goodwill and foster National Integration.

Pertinently, a total of six women ice hockey teams from Delhi, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, I.T.B.P. and Telangana participated in the National Championship. Ladakh Women’s team won the Gold Medal. The Championship was organized by the Ice Hockey Association of India.
