Giving another major relief to the students of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community who have been hitherto not able to apply for the post-matric scholarship scheme under Dr Ambedkar Scholarship portal, the Punjab government has decided to extend the deadline for applying for it till December 31
Divulging the details, Officiating Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Kulwant Singh said that Dr Ambedkar Scholarship Portal was opened from November 4th this year by the state government.
He further said that first-time, the last date of applying for this scholarship was November 30th which was earlier extended to December 10 and later December 15 and now it has been further extended to December 31.
The Officiating Deputy Commissioner said that the portal would function for the institutes to forward applications till January 7 and for the approving authority to send online proposals to line department, it will work till January 17, and in the last, line departments would be able to operate till January 27, 2020.
Mr Singh added that the objective of the scheme is to provide financially assistance to the reserved category students studying at post matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.
He also exhorted the students from Schedule Caste (SC) community to avail the facility of the extended timeline given by Punjab government to apply for availing the benefits under the post-matric scholarship scheme.
He said that it was a golden chance for those candidates, who have failed to get themselves registered for the scholarship schemes on the portal of the government.
The Officiating Deputy Commissioner said that the state government was committed for the well being of students from the underprivileged and weaker sections of the society adding that this decision of the state government was likely to benefit a large number of students from the community.
