Congress MPs of the state today raised their voice together to discuss the deteriorating situation in Punjab. An adjournment motion was tabled in the Lok Sabha and time was sought to discuss the issue of security of the Golden Temple.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla was accompanied by MP and Congress State President Amarinder Singh Raja wading, MP Amar Singh, MP Dharamvir Gandhi, MP and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MP Sher Singh Ghubaya and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, while discussing with the MPs of Punjab on the second day of the monsoon session of the Lok Sabha session, said that along with his fellow MPs in the Lok Sabha, an adjournment motion has been presented before the Honorable Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
We will raise many important and necessary issues affecting our people and our areas. The most important issue among these is the threatening emails being received at Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple).
On which the Punjab government is still empty handed. The series of threats is not stopping and the Punjab government is not able to catch the culprits with solid evidence.
MP Aujla said that the recent reports have deeply disturbed the Sikh community. They demand immediate clarity, transparency and action from the government so that the sanctity and security of the Golden Temple can be ensured at all costs.
The second issue is of land acquisition in Punjab. The unfair land acquisition and acquisition policies by the Punjab government are a threat to the rights and livelihood of our farmers. These should be reviewed immediately. No land should be acquired without consent, proper compensation and social justice.
The third issue has been going on since the day the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power. In Punjab, rising crime and poor governance are posing a serious threat to civilian life. Now the time has come for the government to stop ignoring this chaos and take concrete steps to restore peace and justice.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that we stand together rising above all boundaries, because these are not political issues, but people’s issues.
He urges the media, civil society and the public to raise these voices and support this collective effort in Parliament.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that apart from these issues of Punjab, today all the parties of the India Alliance protested on the issue of Bihar in Parliament by wearing black clothes and tying black bands.
He said that there are growing concerns that SIR development projects are being misused for political gain, ignoring the wishes and welfare of local communities. We demand a fair, transparent process that respects the voice of the people.
