In view of the relentless heavy rainfall lashing Punjab since last night, the state government has announced the closure of all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes across the state till September 3, 2025.
The announcement was made by Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, following a similar order issued earlier to shut all government, private, and unaided schools.
Taking to social media platform X, Bains wrote,
“Due to continuous heavy rainfall across Punjab since last night, all colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes will also remain closed till 3rd September 2025 with immediate effect.”
He further emphasized that institutional administrations are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students staying in hostels. Citizens have been urged to strictly follow all safety advisories and guidelines issued by the district and local authorities.
This precautionary measure comes as the state continues to witness widespread rainfall, prompting safety concerns and travel advisories across multiple regions.
