Punjab CM Channi launches ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ Scheme to confer proprietary rights on people living within ‘Lal Lakir’

In a major reprieve for millions of families especially from weaker and underprivileged sections of society, the Punjab Chief Minister Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today launched ‘Mera Ghar Mere Naam’ scheme to confer proprietary rights on the people living in the houses within the ‘Lal Lakir’ of villages and the cities.

Addressing the gathering during state level function organised here today, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Revenue Minister Aruna Chaudhary, envisioned that this scheme will give much needed succour to all the people especially that of needy and underprivileged strata.

He said that earlier this scheme was launched only for the residents of villages but now it is being extended to the eligible residents of the cities within the ‘Lal Lakir’. Mr Channi said that the Revenue department has been mandated to undertake drone survey of such residential properties both in rural and urban areas for digital mapping.

The Chief Minister said that subsequently all the eligible residents after proper identification/verification will be given the property cards (sanads) to confer proprietary rights upon them in a time bound manner. He said that prior to this, the beneficiaries will be given a time of 15 days to file their objections and in case no reply is received from them, the property card will be issued which will serve purpose of registry against which they can avail loans from the banks or even sell their properties thus enhancing its monetary value. Mr Channi also mentioned that the people residing in the houses in old localities (mohallas) since long generation after generation will also be covered under the scheme.

The Chief Minister further said that another path breaking scheme Basera is providing relief to people residing in slum areas outside the Lal lakir by giving ownership right to them. He said that by coming Deepawali the state government will ensure proprietary rights to people under this scheme. Mr Channi said that these pro-people initiatives are aimed at giving relief to people.

The Chief Minister further said that all the power connections that have disconnected in state due to non payment of bills will be reconnected by Deepawali. He categorically said that anyone regardless of caste, creed and religion will get the benefit of waiver scheme started by Punjab government. Mr Channi said that out of 72 lakh consumers nearly 52 lakh across the state will be benefitted from it.

The Chief Minister said that though he has very less time but he is working overtime to ensure that people are benefitted from development oriented schemes of state government. Announcing a slew of new projects for Dinanagar, he announced to upgrade existing Community Health centre Dinanagar to Sub Division Hospital. Mr Channi also said that he will leave no stone unturned for ensuring holistic development of the assembly segment, which is very close to his heart.

Striking an emotional chord with congress workers, the Chief Minister said that a new era of Congress worker’s and elected representative’s rule has been ushered in the state. Mr Channi said that as Chief Minister his major thrust will be to restore the honour and dignity of Congress workers. He said that every Congress worker is now the Chief Minister of Punjab as he has decentralised all the powers in state.

Addressing the gathering Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa recalled old family ties with the Dinanagar segment. He said that this scheme is a biggest gift by the Punjab government to the state. Mr Randhawa said that SAD-BSP alliance is an unholy tie up which is based on ideology of communal hatred.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that border residents are the brave-heart patriots of the country but by enhancing the jurisdiction of BSF the centre government is posing serious question mark over their patriotism and integrity which cannot be tolerated.

Mr Randhawa said that Punjab Police is fully capable of foiling any attempt aimed at destabilising the state through cross border terrorism or drug trade. He also lambasted Modi government for curtailing the Border Area Development fund started by Dr Manmohan Singh government thereby jeopardising the development of border areas.

In her address, Revenue Minister Ms Aruna Chaudhary welcomed the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister in her assembly segment. She said that this pro-people scheme is a result of visionary approach of the Chief Minister who is always concerned about the well being of people. Ms Chaudhary said that the scheme is a revolutionary step aimed at cementing ethos of brotherhood in villages and cities.

On the occasion Chief Minister also handed over sanads conferring proprietary to 50 beneficiaries of village Meempur and Mahadev Kalan.

Earlier the Chief Minister laid the foundation stones of Tehsil complex to come up at cost of Rs 2.69 crore and a park on name of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at a cost of Rs 4.50 crore in Dinanagar. He also announced to give facelift to bus stand of Dinanagar at a cost of Rs 2.90 crore.

On the occasion MLAs Mr Fateh Jung Sjngh Bajwa, Mr Balwinder Singh Laddi and Mr Santokh Singh Bhalaipur, congress leader Mr Ashok Chaudhary and others were also present.
