Punjab CEO Dr Raju reviews 2022 poll preparedness, inspects EVM Warehouse in Mohali during Mock Polling Exercise

To review poll prepardensss for forthcoming 2022 Assembly elections, Chief Electoral Officer Punjab Dr. S Karuna Raju today visited EVM Warehouse Mohali and inspected a mock polling exercise.

Accompanied by Joint CEO Punjab Inderpal, Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia and Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Komal Mittal, Dr. Raju asked master trainers of EVMs and VVPATs to take deep knowledge about the functioning of these machines and impart others about this so that the election process can be completed in seamless manner.

He enquired about the functioning of these apparatus from the master trainers in letter and breadth. Acknowledging the role of the staff as crucial, he termed that the election staff as the pillar of democracy and their conduct during the entire process would further reinforce the sense in election process.

The Chief Electoral Officer pointed out that the Election Commission of India had started the First Level checking of EVMs and VVPATs well before elections so that the entire process could be completed as early as possible. First Level Checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs has been completed to ensure seamless functioning of these units during the voting and today mock polling has been conducted, he added.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Kalia apprised that a total of 1284 control units, 1769 Ballot Units and 1383 VVPATs were available with the district and First Level Checking (FLC) of these apparatus concluded yesterday in presence of representatives of various political parties.

Election Tehsildar, Mohali Sanjay Kumar informed that the during the mock poll exercise, one percent EVMs have polled 1200 votes, 2 percent apparatus 1000 votes and 2 percent 500 votes yet. He said that the three assembly constituencies of the district have a total 902 polling booths and all arrangements are being made to conduct elections in a transparent and seamless manner.
