The Bharatiya Janata Party today announces the names of two candidates for Punjab bye-polls.
The party has decided to field Rajesh Bagga for the Phagwara (SC) seat while Jangi Lal Mahajan has been named for contesting Mukerian seat.
The party has turned down the claim of Som Parkash and former Union Minister Vijay Sampla for Phagwara seat and instead opted for Rajesh Bagga a former Chairman of Punjab SC Commission. It was said that Som Parkash was seeking ticket for his wife while Sampla wanted it for his son.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Mukerian seat had fallen vacant after the untimely death of Congress MLA Rajesh Kumar Babbi.
