Punjab budget aimless; women, farmers disappointed: Rajwinder Kaur Raju

Chandigarh, June 27, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
The Mahila Kisan Union today termed the first budget presented by the Aam Aadmi Party government as aimless and frivolous and said there was nothing new in the financial plans for the welfare of agriculture, farmers, labourers, women and employees.

Besides this, instead of presenting any concrete plan to improve the poor financial condition of the state, only announcements have been made by covering up the budget to attract the attention of the general public with the help of funds received through central schemes.

Responding to the budget here on Monday, President of Mahila Kisan Union Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju deplored that in this directionless budget, the Bhagwant Mann government has for the first time drifted away with the tradition and unnecessarily praised the Chief Minister of another state and its ‘master’ while the reputation earned by the schools of Punjab in the field of quality education at the national level has been ignored.

The women farmer leader said this budget doesn’t includes crop diversification, improved oilseeds, prevention of farmer suicides, increase in farmers’ income through processing of agricultural produce, raising the ground water level, concrete schemes for the upliftment of landless families, employment opportunities for the unemployed.

In addition to this, no measures or concrete plans have come to the fore on the recommendations of the recent Pay Commission for employment and their arrears which shows the inexperience of this new dispensation, she added.
