Punjab Agriculture Minister Randeep Singh Nabha visits PAU Ludhiana

Punjab Agriculture Minister S. Randeep Singh Nabha paid a special visit to PAU today. Chief Secretary Development and PAU Vice Chancellor Sh. DK Tiwari, IAS also graced the occasion. S. Randeep Singh Nabha visited the exhibitions stalls of various departments of PAU. The Minister applauded the academic, research and extension activities of PAU. He remarked that Punjab has won the title of food basket of the whole nation and PAU has provided the technical leadership. He said that PAU is continuously enlightening the farmers towards new challenges faced by the agriculture sector through agricultural diversification, trainings, processing etc. The Minister motivated the agricultural experts for being more dedicated towards their work. In his address, S. Nabha asked the University agricultural experts to identify different crop zones towards bringing up of agricultural development model. He assured that there will be no dearth of research and development grant for the betterment of state agriculture.

PAU Vice Chancellor Sh. DK Tiwari, IAS gave warm welcome to S. Randeep Singh Nabha. The Vice Chancellor informed the Minister about the various activities carried out by the University. He also delved on the present scenario of PAU and said that the presence of the revered minister has motivated the University employees. On the occasion Director of Research, PAU Dr. Navtej Singh Bains detailed about the research being done by the University on various varieties of crops, fruits and vegetables. He mentioned that the goal of the University to increase the farm profit apart from increase in the farm yield. Dr. Bains specifically mentioned the efforts being made by the University for crop diversification.

The Minister was presented with stole and memento. Dr. RS Sidhu, Registrar, PAU proposed the vote of thanks towards end of the programme. He told that the University is focused towards betterment of agriculture. On the occasion, Director of Extension Education, Dr. Jaskarn Singh Mahal, Director Students’ Welfare, Dr. Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Additional Director Communication, Dr. TS Riar, Additional Director Extension Dr. Ajmer Singh Dhatt, Dr. Gursaheb Singh Manes, Dr. PPS Pannu, Dean College of Agriculture Dr. MIS Gill, Dean College of Basic Sciences & Humanities Dr. Shammi Kapoor, Dean College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology Dr. Ashok Kumar and Heads of the Departments were present. Also present were S. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Chairman, Punjab Youth Development Board and S. Harpreet Singh Sandhu, Legal Coordinator.

On the occasion, exhibits of activities and achievements were displayed by the departments of the University.
