In a strong move toward enforcing accountability, the Jalandhar district administration has suspended three panchayat secretaries for negligence in their official duties. The action, approved by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayats, was taken based on a formal recommendation by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal.
The officials suspended include Prashotam Lal and Dilbag Sahota from Panchayat Samiti Jalandhar West, and Parvinder Singh from Panchayat Samiti Phillaur. During the period of suspension, all three will report to the District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO), Jalandhar, which will serve as their temporary headquarters.
Strict Action to Uphold Accountability
Speaking on the matter, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal emphasized that the suspension aligns with the Punjab Government’s commitment to clean and accountable governance. “We are resolute in delivering transparent and responsible administration to the public. Any lapse in duty, however minor, will not be tolerated,” the Deputy Commissioner said.
He further warned that the administration will not hesitate to take strict disciplinary action against any officer found derelict in their responsibilities in the future.
