Punarjot Eye Bank Society is working intensively in northern India especially in Punjab with sole mission of “Darkness to Light” from more than 25 years and managed to procure 7500 corneas and performed 5300 free successful corneal transplants. It is a selfless service to spread awareness in our society to achieve required rate of eye donation and corneal transplants.
ABOUT THE BOOK “River of Joy” is an attempt to narrate some interesting, motivating, eccentric and challenging stories of Ashok Mehra and Punarjot’s journey of mission “Darkness to Light ” This book also highlights many current issues which need to be addressed to speed up organ donation awareness.
This book has human stories of ground level work and will convey strong emotional message to our society. We believe our youth can be benefited from this book. It will definitely motivate them to play greater role to build better and healthy nation.

Most of the stories in this book are an eye opener and personal experience of the author Ashok Mehra during his social work of last decade.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Ashok Mehra, a selfless volunteer from United Kingdom serving in NGO Punarjot Eye Bank Society as International Coordinator from last decade. He is presently residing in Phagwara and working tirelessly 24/7 on eye donation awareness campaign. He has helped with 100,000 Eye donation pledges by organizing 500 seminars under his dynamic leadership in each corner of our communities.
He played major role to eradicate corneal blindness out of our society. He has taken our mission “Corneal blindness free world” not only to other states but also too many Asian communities residing in other countries such as UK, USA, Canada, Australia and Europe by organizing seminars abroad and through Radio/TV motivational talks. He has also used social media platform heavily to spread awareness of organ donation to millions.
