A famous Dhaba on cool Road in jalandhar has been booked for huge Reading Concealment by Enforcement Wing of PSPCL. Enforcement received a tip off that certain employees of PSPCL & out sourced billing company M/s Sterling Transformers are in connivance with a commercial consumer for concealment of his meter reading, Enforcement officials put the suspected employees on surveillance & watch was being kept in their activities. Dhaba owner was manipulating his meter readings with the help of employees of PSPCL & Sterling Transformer. He has been doing so since January, 2020.
A Meter Inspector of PSPCL verified his reading as 8300 while his actual reading found by the Enforcement just few days after was 32350, as such there was a concealment of more than 24000 Units amounting to approx. Rs. 2 Lakhs.
The consumer was in process of damaging the meter, but couldn’t do so due to timely action of Enforcement. The electricity meter was later removed from the site & tested in Metering Laboratory. When the data of Meter was studied, it revealed totally another picture.
The consumer managed to damage his Electricity Meter by running 42 KW load, whereas his sanctioned load was only 7 KW.Energy measuring circuit of two phases of his three phase meter were found damaged & only one phase was recording energy.
Data analysis of Meter revealed that he used to run more than 200 Amperes load on his meter whereas the maximum capacity of his installed meter was only 60 Amperes. He was apparently bribing the employees of PSPCL & outsourced meter company for suppressing his reading & huge load connected to the his meter. Dhaba owner cleverly managed to get two commercial meters in his premises.
Role of other officials of PSPCL in providing him second connection & helping him in suppressing Electricity Consumption is under scanner of Enforcement wing said Er. Rajit Sharma, Deputy Chief Engineer, Enforcement, Jalandhar.
Meanwhile fine of Rs. 75 Lakhs has been slapped on the consumer. The Meter Inspector of PSPCL has been suspended in this case. Sh. Venu Parsad, CMD of PSPCL has already directed Enforcement wing to act tough on corrupt officials of the corporation.
