Prosecute Dera Sirsa head in Sacrilege & Maur Bomb Blast Case: Sikh Organizations

Protest against injustice and enslavement on August 15

Jalandhar, Aug 2, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

In continuation of their resolve to fight against injustices and enslavement, the Dal Khalsa, Akali Dal Amritsar and United Akali Dal has decided to jointly organize protests on August 15 throughout Punjab to mark India’s 72nd Independence day.

The protest programmes will focus on continued loot of river waters, legislative amendments to make UAPA more stringent and draconian, giving unbridled powers to NIA by infringing state’s rights, misuse of anachronistic law (sedition) across the board, releasing four life convict cops and denying the same right to Sikh detainees and denial of right to self determination beside closure report by CBI on Barghari sacrilege case.

The decision was taken in a meeting held by representatives of all three parties, which was attended by senior activists Kanwar Pal Singh, Jasbir Singh Khandur, Paramjit Singh Tanda, Prof Mohinder Pal Singh, Jaskaran Singh Kahansingh wala, Gurdeep Singh Bhatinda, Bahadur Singh Nawanshahr and SYP president Paramjit Singh Mand.

Addressing the press conference here today, Kanwar Pal Singh said the march will be a reiteration of our aspiration to be free and to uphold the legitimate rights including the right to self-determination of the people of Punjab.

The protest program will be organised in the following cities namely Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Sangrur, Bhatinda, Mansa, Ferozpur ,Faridkot, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Chandigarh, Moga, Barnala and Tarn Taran.

Taking a strong view of conflicting and self-contradicting statements by Captain Amrinder Singh and Sukhbir Singh Badal on sacrilege issue and CBI report, he said the chief minister lacks will power to crack the case and expose the real conspirators. Even the victims of Maur Bomb blast cries for justice but the CM has turned his back on them because he known that the threads of blast reaches Sirsa via Delhi, they alleged.

They demanded Dera Sirsa Chief should be interrogated and prosecuted in the Sacrilege and Maur Bomb blast case.

The chief minister asking the CBI to reinvestigate the sacrilege case goes against the spirit of the Vidhan Sabha that passed the resolution to withdraw the probe from central agency. Moreover, the aggrieved community have no faith or trust in CBI.

Appealing to Dalit brethren irrespective of party ideology to join the protest programme, they said the minorities particularly Muslims and Dalits in India were reeling from rising radicalism. “The Hindutva forces feel emboldened under Modi’s rule”.

Referring to the former CBI official turning hostile in the Saini Motors case, they took a dig at the country’s justice system. This murder case has been prolonged to the extent that after almost three decades, the IO has turned hostile thanks to the proximity the high-profile accused (read SS Saini) enjoys in the corridor of powers.

Pointing out failure of Punjab govt to prosecute former DGP SS Saini in Bebhal Kalan firing, party leaders said the reports clearly indicate that the police hierarchy has arm-twisted the political class to defend their men who ordered unprovoked firing on Sikh Sangat. Restoring the faith of public in rule of law should be the priority of the government”, they argued.
