Renowned Professor Sandeep Kansal has been appointed as the third Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda.
The appointment was marked by a ceremony attended by senior faculty members and family, including his wife, Dr. Mamta Kansal, a professor in the Mathematics department of the university.
In his address, Dr. Kansal expressed gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and Principal Secretary of Technical Education Shri Vivek Partap Singh for entrusting him with this important role. He pledged to meet their expectations and advance the university to new heights.
Academic and Professional Excellence
Dr. Kansal brings 28 years of academic experience to the role. He holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics and is a distinguished scholar with qualifications including UGC-CSIR NET and GATE certifications. At MRSPTU, he has served as Professor and Head of the Department of Physics, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Sciences.
\His past roles include Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Director of Planning & Development, Professor In Charge (Finance & Purchase), Nodal Officer for the PMSS scheme, and NAAC Assessor.

Research Publications: 31, with 29 in prestigious journals
Awards: MRSPTU Budding Researcher Award 2021 and MRSPTU Leading Researcher Award 2021
Administrative Contributions: Extensive roles as Chairperson of various committees and boards
Administrative Innovations:
Initiatives Implemented: Introduced e-office and GeM portal systems, developed faculty appraisal software, and launched a mobile app for students
Curriculum Development: Designed curricula for several programs and established a Radiation Physics Research Lab
