Prof Karamjit Singh Chahal Appointed as Registrar of GNDU

A distinguished academician and architect, Prof. Karamjit Singh Chahal, Professor, Department of Architecture of Guru Nanak Dev University appointed as the Registrar of Guru Nanak Dev University.

Prof. Chahal brings with him over 32 years of rich experience in teaching, research, and professional practice in the field of Architecture.

He holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Ph.D. from Guru Nanak Dev University and an M.E. in Construction Technology and Management from Thapar University, Patiala. A gold medallist in both his undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Prof. Chahal is renowned for his extensive research on Sikh Architecture and Sustainability.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Karamjeet Singh congratulated Prof. Karamjit Singh Chahal on his new role and looks forward to his visionary leadership and continued more contribution to the growth of Guru Nanak Dev University.

He has made significant contributions to academia through his more than 50 research papers, numerous technical reports, and the successful supervision of multiple Ph.D. scholars.

He has led and participated in prestigious research projects sponsored by UGC, INTACH etc., and has served in advisory roles for major heritage and development projects under the Government of Punjab and the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.

He was a member of the team preparing various DPRs for the construction, widening and improvement of various roads within municipal limits.

Apart from this, he has been a lead team member in designing prestigious projects like the Unity Mall at Amritsar, Valmiki temple complex at Ramtirath, Amritsar, the District Administrative Complex Amritsar, the Municipal Corporation Office at Amritsar, the Interiors of Guru Ramdass ji International Airport, Amritsar, etc.

Prof. Chahal has also held several key academic and administrative positions, including Dean Faculty of Architecture & Planning at various universities, Head of Department, and Professor In-Charge of Construction & Planning at GNDU. His dedication and leadership have been instrumental in shaping numerous architectural and urban development initiatives in Punjab and beyond.
