Private Medical Colleges Fee rationalization on cards: OP Soni

Medical Education Minister Punjab Mr. OP Soni today said that the Cabinet Sub Committee on Medical Education would meet soon to dwell over the agenda of rationalizing the fee structure of the private medical colleges.

Interacting with the media persons here today, the Minister expressed concern over the fee hike by the private medical colleges. He said that the fees of private medical colleges would be rationalized to benefit the students pursuing medical courses in the state. Mr. Soni said that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government was committed for ensuring affordable and quality medical education to the students of the state.

Replying to another query, the Minister said that the state government was committed for wiping out the curse of drugs from the state. He said that already a massive crackdown against drugs has been initiated by the state government to save the future generations from this scourge. Mr. Soni further said that no stone would be left unturned for making Punjab completely drug free in the coming days.

On another query, the Minister reiterated the firm commitment of state government to provide jobs to the unemployed youth in the state. He said that under the ongoing Ghar-Ghar Rozgar scheme the state government was already providing number of jobs to the youth of the state adding that District Bureau of Employment have been set up in the districts to open new avenues for the youth. Mr. Soni said that recruitment drive in government sector was also going on and all the departments have been asked to submit the list of vacant posts in them so that they could be duly filled through recruitment.

On the occasion MLAs Mr. Pargat Singh, Mr. Rajinder Beri, Mr. Avtar Singh Bawa Henry and Mr. Hardev Singh Laddi, Mayor Mr. Jagdish Raj Raja, former President District Congress Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Mr. Diperva Lakra, Additional Deputy Commissioners Mr. Kulwant Singh and Mr. Jasbir Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Navjot Singh Mahal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmeet Singh and others were also present.
