The portraits of former president of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Jathedar Avtar Singh Makkar, former member of SGPC and Dharam Prachar Committee Baba Hardev Singh Lulonwale and Babbar Akali Shaheed Jathedar Amar Singh Dhaliwal were today unveiled and adorned at Centre Sikh Museum inside Sri Darbar Sahib complex.
Head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh and SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur jointly unveiled the portraits of three Sikh personalities in the presence of prominent personalities. Earlier, the hazuri raagi jatha connected the congregation with Gurbani Kirtan and Bhai Baljit Singh offered ardas (prayer).
Addressing on the occasion, Giani Jagtar Singh lauded the services rendered by Jathedar Avtar Singh, Baba Hardev Singh Lulonwale and Jathedar Amar Singh Dhaliwal towards the community. He said that it is a great honour of the community that a portrait of a personality gets a place in the Central Sikh Museum.
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the Sikh personalities who have done commendable work for the community, country and religion, their portraits are displayed by the SGPC at the Central Sikh Museum. She said Jathedar Avtar Singh, Baba Hardev Singh and Jathedar Amar Singh Dhaliwal have also rendered great Panthic services which the community will always remember. On this occasion, Singh Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh and Bibi Jagir Kaur honoured the family members of the three personalities with the Guru’s blessings Siropao (robe of honour).
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Jathedar Avtar Singh was President of theSGPC for 11 consecutive years and at the same time he served as the president of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Model Town till his last time. She said similarly, Baba Hardev Singh Lulonwale, while serving as a member of the SGPC and Dharam Prachar Committee, preached Sikh faith in country and abroad and initiated millions of people.
She said Baba Hardev Singh was a person dedicated to Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Speaking about Shaheed Amar Singh Dhaliwal, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the great heroic warrior of the Sikh community played an active role during the Guru Ka Bagh Morcha and the Panja Sahib Saka and even went to jail several times.
On this occasion, additional head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana, SGPC chief secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale, SGPC executive member S. Satwinder Singh Tohra, members Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, S. Raghbir Singh Saharanmajra, S. Harpal Singh Jallah, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, S. Avtar Singh Vanwala, S. Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu, SGPC additional secretary S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Sukhminder Singh, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Sri Darbar Sahib manager S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent S. Malkit Singh Beharwal and others were present.
