Police need to be ‘freed’ from Congress to restore law & order in Punjab: Harpal Cheema

Nawanshahr, May 27, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, expressing grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, said that the spate of crime could not be stopped until and unless Punjab Police was not freed from the influence of the ruling Congress party, to say the least.

Cheema was talking to the media after attending the funeral of Paramjit Singh Pamma, a prominent local leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, who was brutally murdered by criminals at his nearby Ranewal village in the district.

Others who were present on the occasion included Kotkapura MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Garhshanker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, state core committee members Gerry Birring, Harjot Bains, former MLA Ram Krishan Kataria, Manjit Singh Ghuman, district president Shiv Karan Chechi, area president Satnam Singh Jalwaha, Patiala Corporation President Tejinder Mehta, Satnam Chechi, IT (Punjab Wing) member Chandra Mohan JD and other prominent local leaders.

The LoP alleged that the key accused in the brutal murder of Paramjit Pamma had been released on bail in another murder case, which clearly indicated that the criminals behind such heinous acts had no fear of the law.

Cheema said that it was earlier Sukhbir Singh Badal who was directly responsible for reducing the state to ‘Jangal Raj’ during the SAD-BJP regime and now Capt. Amarinder Singh, who holds the charge of Home Department, was solely responsible for sharp surge in criminal activities in the state.

Speaking on the occasion MLAs Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Jai Krishan Singh Rouri said that the key culprits and other conspirators were still out of reach of the police, saying that the high profile murderers, who enjoyed political patronage, be arrested sooner than later. He warned that if the accused were not arrested, the AAP would launch a front against the government in the state.
