People are asking, where is Sunny Deol: Sukhjinder Randhawa

Gurdaspur, May 7, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior Congress leader and Punjab Minister for Corporation and Jails, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today took a jibe at the Akali-BJP candidate from Gurdaspur, saying people have been asking about the whereabouts of Sunny Deol. “The Deol euphoria has started fizzling out, sooner than we expected”, he remarked.

In a statement, Randhawa said here today, even the BJP and Akali workers had no clue about Deol, who has made just a couple of appearances in Public. “Earlier, we used to ask for a debate with him, now we are just seeking his appearance”, he said, while telling the BJP leadership, “we know that he is just a showpiece, but show his face to the public at least”.

The Jails Minister said, the people of Gurdaspur had expected him to be present, at least during the campaigning. “Earlier people thought that he may, at least, stay till May 17 or 19, but he has vanished much before that when the campaigning is at its peak, probably realizing that electoral politics is not his cup of tea”, he said.

Randhawa claimed that Deol was not even a pale shadow of his own predecessor Vinod Khanna, who was connected with people and would always mix up with them. “Imagine the person who is not able to spend a day in Gurdaspur, how can he spend five years with the people and address their problems”, he asked.

The senior Congress leader from Majha claimed that the party candidate and PCC president Sunil Jakhar will not only maintain his previous lead but will also improve upon it. “Let me tell you today, last time in 2017 by-election, our lead was little short of 2 lakhs, at 1.93,219 votes and this time it will be more than 2 lakhs”, he asserted, while adding, it needs a lot more to win the election than merely being a celebrity or a star and that too of a bygone era.
