Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, is set to host a landmark media event, “PAU’s Media Harvest: Reaping Stories, Sowing Ideas,” on February 18, 2025, at the prestigious Pal Auditorium.

Organized jointly by the Department of Agricultural Journalism, Languages and Culture, and the Communication Centre, in collaboration with the Society for Advancement of Academics, Sports and Cultural Activities of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, the event is expected to be a significant gathering of media professionals who once walked the halls of PAU.

The event will serve as a vibrant platform for discourse on “The Current Media Landscape” while providing a nostalgic reunion for alumni who have gone on to establish themselves in diverse media domains, including print, electronic, digital media, advertising, and academia.

At least 50 media professionals, nurtured by PAU, are expected to participate, offering insights drawn from their extensive experience across national and international platforms.

A key highlight of the event, The Scribe’s Confluence, will feature engaging discussions by distinguished speakers. The lead talk will be delivered by Mr. Ramesh Vinayak, Executive Editor, Hindustan Times, Chandigarh, whose incisive perspectives on the evolving media environment will set the stage for deliberations.

Adding further depth to the discussions will be Dr. Harjinder Walia, Former Dean and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University, Patiala, and currently Director, Chardikla Time TV; Mrs. Ramaninder Kaur Bhatia, Senior Journalist and Former Assistant Editor, The Times of India; and Dr. Balwinder Singh, Producer and Host, Radio Sargam, Canada.

The programme will be presided over by Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor of PAU, whose leadership continues to foster academic excellence and professional synergy at the university.

Speaking about the significance of the event, Dr. Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, remarked, “This media conclave is not just an intellectual discourse; it is a celebration of the legacy of PAU’s journalism and communication education.

Since the inception of the department in 1970, our alumni have attained remarkable positions in reputed media houses, educational institutions, and creative industries. ‘PAU’s Media Harvest’ is an opportunity to relive memories, renew professional connections, and chart the course for future collaborations in journalism, storytelling, and communication.”

The event aims to explore the challenges and opportunities in modern media, addressing aspects such as the impact of technology, ethical journalism, digital media’s growing influence, and the responsibility of the press in shaping public opinion.

Through thought-provoking discussions, PAU seeks to reaffirm its commitment to nurturing dynamic media professionals who are equipped to navigate and redefine the media landscape.

As anticipation builds for this unique gathering, ‘PAU’s Media Harvest’ promises to be an inspiring event that fosters dialogue, camaraderie, and the sowing of new ideas for a progressive media ecosystem.
