PAU student Manjinder Kaur gets APJ Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship

Ms Manjinder Kaur, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemistry, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been awarded with the prestigious “Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship” for the year 2020-21.

She was awarded this prestigious fellowship during an online event organized by TERRE Policy Centre, Pune in the reverential memory of our late President, Bharat Ratna Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Ms Manjinder Kaur was selected amongst 800 candidates nationwide and shortlisted for the final interview-cum-presentation among the top 15 researchers and was also adjudged as the winner of this fellowship.

In her Ph.D research, she is working on “Evaluation of Ocimum essential oil derived composites to enhance shelf life of Kinnow fruit” under the guidance of Dr Ritu Tandon, Chemist, Department of Chemistry (working at PHPTC). This research work is being carried out in Department of Chemistry and Punjab Horticultural Postharvest Technology Centre (PHPTC), PAU, Ludhiana. The fellowship carries a cash price of Rs 25,000/- along with a citation, scroll and medallion.
