Ms Bukke Kutti Bai, a Ph.D student in the School of Agricultural Biotechnology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has bagged the “Best Oral Presentation Award” for her research paper presented during the 26th Punjab Science Congress, held from February 7-9, 2023 at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab.
Her advisor Dr Satinder Kaur shared that Kutti presented her research work on utilising the sequencing-based techniques of 35K SNP chip and genome re-sequencing for fine mapping of novel resistance genes against wheat diseases leaf rust and stripe rust. The genes have been derived from wild progenitor species Triticum dicoccoides.
The PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal congratulated her on this achievement.
The Dean of Postgraduate Studies Dr Pardeep Kumar Chhuneja appreciated the student for bringing laurels to PAU with high quality research work.
