PAU signs MoU with Mumbai based FMC India Pvt Ltd

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FMC India Private Limited, Mumbai today, as per which FMC will sponsor scholarships to the students of PAU. Dr Shammi Kapoor, Registrar, PAU and Dr Anandakrishanan Balaraman, Director, Research and Development, FMC India Private Limited, Mumbai signed the pact on behalf of their respective organisations.

Dr Kapoor lauded the philanthropy of the FMC India.

Dr Sandeep Bains, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, said: “PAU is mandated to teaching, research and extension in agriculture and allied fields in the state of Punjab.” About the MoU, she informed that FMC under its ‘FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Programme’ desires to sponsor scholarships to the Ph.D (for three years) and Master’s (for two years) students of PAU, pursuing degree programmes in the Departments of Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Soil Science and Horticulture (Fruit Science, Vegetable Science, and Floriculture and Landscaping.

Dr Balaraman said: “FMC is an agricultural sciences company that has launched ‘FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Programme’ for various agricultural universities in India; it aims at creating greater opportunities for aspiring students to develop their aptitude in agricultural research and to build future leaders in the field of agricultural sciences.”

Mr CS Naidu, Chief Marketing Officer, and Dr Bakul Joshi, National Head, Corporate Partnerships and Capability Development, FMC India, spoke on the world of FMC and FMC Science Leaders Scholarship Programme, respectively.

Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, while highlighting the research accomplishments of PAU, said that the University has made a tremendous contribution to the nation’s food grain bowl. It has emerged as a leader of Green Revolution, conservation agriculture, apiculture and farm mechanization, he added. Later, he proposed a vote of thanks.

Present on the occasion were Dr MIS Gill, Dean, College of Horticulture and Forestry; Dr PPS Pannu, Additional Director of Research (Natural Resource and Plant Health Management); Dr GS Manes, Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanization and Bioenergy); and Heads of the seven departments of PAU.
