The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) has inked a pact with KNK Enterprises, Jalandhar for the commercialization of Mutigrain Atta formulation designed by the University. Dr AS Dhatt, Director of Research, PAU and Mrs Anshu Nandy, an authorized signatory of the registered partnership firm, signed the memorandum of agreement.
Dr GS Manes, Additional Director of Research (Farm Mechanization and Bioenergy), congratulated the team for the commercialization of the technology.
Dr Poonam A Sachdev, Principal Food Technologist (Vegetable)-cum-Head, Department of Food Science and Technology, explained that this Multigrain Atta formulation, developed by PAU, will help to meet the nutrient requirements of all the age groups either children or elders.
Dr Kamaljit Kaur, Assistant Professor, Department of Food Science and Technology, explained that Multigrain Atta formulation is made from the whole grains of crops viz., wheat, maize, gram, barley, defatted soya and oats which are carefully ground on “Chakkis’ and mixed in a balanced proportion to meet the requirement of colour, taste and nutrition. Dough made from the atta is smooth as well as it absorbs more water and the chapatti made from this atta stays soft for longer duration, she added.
Dr Usha Nara, Plant Breeder, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, elaborated that the University has signed 290 MoAs and this is the fourth MoA of the concerned technology.
