Mr Kevin Otieno Oromo, a second year MBA student under the advisement of Dr Ramandeep Singh, Professor-cum-Director, School of Business Studies (SBS), Punjab Agricultural University, attended the 51st St Gallen Symposium in Switzerland recently.

The St Gallen Symposium is a global forum that brings together academics, business leaders and politicians to dialogue and find solutions to the problems that affect the society. The symposium was founded in 1969 and is currently considered to be the world’s leading initiative for intergenerational debates on society and development.

The St Gallen Symposium organizes a global essay competition through which postgraduate students get invited to the conference. The top 100 submissions are invited to attend the St Gallen Symposium.

Mr Kevin’s submission “Rebuilding Together: A Framework for Sustainable Development in Agribusiness” was ranked among the top 100 essays from 700 hundred submissions from more than 100 countries. In this essay, Kevin explored how technologies like blockchain could help ensure sustainable agrarian laws for farmers and future generations, across the developing and least developed countries.

Sharing his experience, Mr Kevin said that the St Gallen Symposium was truly a life changing experience.
