The Gate Number 2 of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) was formally inaugurated on Tuesday evening. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, presided over the event, while Mr Rajinder Gupta, Chairman, Trident Group was the special guest on the occasion.
Mr Gupta highly appreciated the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Dr Dhillon and his team for beautifying the campus.
Dr Dhillon said the gate has been named after the Golden Jubilee of Green Revolution. “The Green Revolution transformed the nation from food deficit to food surplus,” he stated. Referring to its design, he said this gate is a reflection of Punjabi culture. Dr Dhillon expressed his gratitude to the Trident Group and other donors for their financial assistance. He thanked Mr Rajinder Gupta, Mr IK Garg and Dr JS Dhaliwal.
Earlier, Dr VS Hans, Chief Engineer, welcomed the guests and senior officials of PAU, and shared the thoughts connected with the history of gate.
Dr RS Sidhu, Registrar, lauded the financial contribution for the construction of the gate and said it is a fine example of public-private partnership.
Dr Vishal Bector, Associate Director, Industry Linkages, conducted the programme.
Present on the occasion were Dr (Mrs) GK Sangha, Dean, Postgraduate Studies; Dr NS Bains, Director of Research; Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education; Dr (Mrs) RK Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare; Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication and deans of the constituent colleges of PAU.
