Patiala takes lead to establish 24×7 O2 Bank, launches ‘Oxygen on Wheels’

Amid surge in COVID cases, to ensure the uninterrupted supply of oxygen, as per the directives of Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh, district administration, Patiala today took a unique initiative by launching ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ service.

Disclosing this, here, today, Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Amit said that if any private or government hospital of district needs oxygen in case of emergency then this 24×7 oxygen bank service would be available for immediate delivery of oxygen there.

Mr Kumar Amit further said that district administration would ensure to make available Oxygen to all the private and government hospitals of Patiala district. He said that district administration is regularly in touch with state authorities to make proper arranagements and allocation in the district as per need.

Besides, we have audited the use of oxygen in the district hospitals, in the last days to know the actual consumption and to stop any type of wastage in this testing time. Today’s initiative of the district administration would ensure to make available reserved oxygen cylinders to any private or government hospital in emergency need, he added.

To deliver the oxygen cylinders in an emergency situation, ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ service would be proved beneficial for all of us to sort out any problem related to oxygen in the district immediately.

The deputy commissioner appealed to the people of Patiala to follow the instructions issued by the government from time to time to curb the spread of pandemic so that we can save the precious human lives. He said that if anyone has any symptoms related to COVID, he/she should immediately go to his nearest health center and get his/her COVID tested done so that the spread of the disease could be stopped.

He recommended home-isolated COVID patients when their oxygen saturation get lower than 94 percent, body temperature increase above 100.5, pulse rate shoot above 120 per minute, blood sugar level cross above 200 or decrease below 70 and in addition, blood pressure shoot above 130/90 or below 100/70, feel shortness of breath, heaviness in the chest, colour of lips change or having any other kind of discomfort then must consult a doctor or call 104/112 immediately.

He said that the district administration has set up helpline numbers 0175-2350550 for inquiries regarding COVID and helpline number 62843-57500 for oxygen related queries. He said that ADC (D) Dr. Mrs Preeti Yadav and ADC (G) Mrs Pooja Sayal Grewal have been entrusted the task to ensure proper distribution of oxygen in the district.
