Patiala Administration signs MoU with Punjabi University

District Administration, Patiala signed a Memorandum of understanding with the Punjabi University, Patiala (PUP) today. Under this MoU, District Administration shall facilitate the faculty, researchers and students of the department of Psychology, PUP to collect data for research and analysis purposes and conduct counselling sessions in different government owned institutions in the areas of drug de-addiction, geriatric population (old age homes) and disability counselling with a common objective of well being of inmates in these institutions.

Memorandum of understanding signed by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and Registrar of the Punjabi University Prof Navjot Kaur. Head of the department of Psychology Prof Mamta Sharma and ADC urban development Gautam Jain, District Social Security Officer Jobandeep Kaur Cheema were also present on the occasion.

Divulging the details Sakshi Sawhney said that through this MoU, the department of Psychology, PUP, as a voluntary initiative under ambit of Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) through its authorized faculty, researchers and students will carry out periodic counselling and research related work and give suitable suggestions for improving the efficiency and functioning of these institutions.

Registrar Prof Navjot Kaur said that the MoU provides an excellent opportunity to the students of department of Psychology as DC office, Patiala shall offer internship to approximately 30 number of postgraduate and diploma students of the department for a period of 2 months a year.

Prof Mamta Sharma informed that this MoU is first of its kind through which the district administration and department of Psychology, PUP would work together with an aim to enhance well being of the inmates of government owned institutions in the district.
