Pass Assembly resolution against ‘bulldozer politics’, Congress to Kejriwal

New Delhi, May 16, 2022- The Congress’ Delhi unit on Monday demanded that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal should immediately convene a special meeting of the Assembly and pass a resolution against the BJP’s “bulldozer politics” to halt the destruction of the houses and shops of the poor people.

Delhi Congress chief Anil Kumar alleged that Kejriwal, used to call special sessions of the Assembly to discuss even trivial issues, but was shying away on this issue.

“BJP is destroying the lives of over 50 lakh people living in unauthorised colonies and JJ clusters,” he said, adding that among these 50 lakh people, nearly 40 lakh are living in 1,797 unauthorised colonies while around 10 lakh people are living in 675 JJ clusters.

Anil Kumar said that people have started doubting the Delhi Chief Minister’s “good” intentions, as he has not spoken against the BJP’s “bulldozer politics”, which has been going on for the past one month.

He said that Kejriwal, in his press conference on Monday raised objections on the way of demolition, but has no objection on demolition of 50 lakh people’s houses.

He alleged that the BJP, in collusion with Kejriwal, was sending notice to poor people, threatening them with demolition of their houses and shops, terming them as unauthorised constructions, and the politicians of both these parties were extorting money from these poor people, with the false promise of saving their structures.  (Agency)
