Pargat Singh Laddi Sherowalia visit Mandis along with DC, SSP, assure farmers of smooth procurement

MLAs Mr Pargat Singh and Mr Hardev Singh Laddi Sherowalia, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr Navjot Singh Mahal today unequivocally said that farmers would not face any sort of inconvenience during the ongoing procurement of wheat.

The MLAs, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police today inspected the ongoing procurement at grain markets of Shahkot and Jandiala. During the interaction with farmers they said that no stone would be left unturned for facilitating the farmers for smooth and hassle free purchase of wheat. They said that elaborate arrangements have been made by the state government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for smooth procurement and lifting of wheat from the mandis.

The MLAs, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police further asked the procurement staff that if the farmers faced any problem during the procurement then the concerned staff would be made accountable. They said that any sort of laxity in this exercise would not be tolerated. The said that the golden grains of the farmers have to be procured and lifted smoothly without making any sort of inconvenience to food growers.

The MLAs, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police said that in a major decision aimed at decongesting the grain markets for smooth procurement of wheat amidst Covid 19 the purchase centres have been doubled in district. They said that decision has been taken to ensure that social distancing was maintained in the grain markets during the procurement of grains. They further said that for smooth purchase of grain grid marking of 30 by 30 feet has been done in the mandis in which every farmer would unload their produce so that social distancing was maintained.

The MLAs, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police further said that during the procurement, coupons would be issued by market committees to Arthiyas which would be subsequently given to the farmers. They said that a farmer would be entitled to take multiple coupons each day or on different days depending on space in order to avoid rush in the mandis. They further said that farmers with each coupon would be entitled to bring one trolley having about 50 quintal wheat.

On the occasion District Food and Supply Controller Mr Narinder Singh, District Mandi Officer Mr Davinder Singh, Assistant District Mandi Officer Mr Kewal Singh, District Manager Markfed Mr Sachin Garg, District Manager Pungrain Mr Janak Raj and others were also present.
