Panchayats ensuring 100% vaccination to be honoured under ‘Pind Bachao Muhim’ in Patiala: Chander Gaind

With Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh launched Covid free rural Punjab drive in the state, Patiala Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind on Tursday launched ‘Pind Bachao Muhim’ in village Daun Kalan under Mission Fateh to check virus spread in rural areas.

While launching this campaign at village Daun Kalan Divisional Commissioner Patiala accompanied by SDM Charanjit Singh, BDPO Dharmpal Sharma, interacted with the Panchayat members including Sarpanch Balbir Singh and Panchayat Members to sensitize them against the upsurge in infections in villages.

Terming vaccination most effective weapon against the virus, Mr. Gaind here announced that Panchayats ensuring 100 percent vaccination of villages would be honored with appreciation letters at district headquarters besides a grant of Rs 10 lakh by state government.

Similarly, Panchayats have also been authorised to spent a grant upto Rs 50,000 for making arrangements to contain the CORONAVIRUS.

Further, he urged Panchayat to play an proactive role in the ongoing war against the virus adding that the Panchayats should intensify vaccination of villagers, encourage people to consult medical experts in case of any kind of illness, compliance of Covid appropriate behavior besides maximum sampling to stem the virus spread.

The Divisional Commissioner stated that proper implementation on safety measures encompassing using masks and hand sanitizers, washing hands, maintaining social distancing ect can play a pivotal role to contain this disease.

He further called upon people to avoid unnecessarily stepping out of their homes and only go out when it’s unavoidable adding people of the village should keep a tab over the outsiders visiting their village to prevent further spread.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner got Panchayat members interacted with Member Parliament Preneet Kaur through video conference, who urged village bodies to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 safety guidelines to curb the virus. Others who were present included Didar Singh Daun Kalna, RMO Dr Sonia Rani, Dr Mohammad Sajid, Head Mistress of Village School Mili Sharma and other prominent persons of the village.
