Jalandhar, Oct 26, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
U.S. Border Patrol Nationwide arrested 26642 Indians while crossing the US Border illegally during the last five years. This was disclosed here by Satnam Singh Chahal Executive Director North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) in a press release issued here today.

According to the information recieved from US Patrol agency under FOIA Act Chahal said that the number of Indians arrested for illegally entering the United States has nearly four time higher so far in 2015 than FY 2012 when only 642 Indians were arrested while crossing the US border.

Similarly During the FY 2018 US Border Patrol arrested 9234 and FY 2019 the arrested Indians were 8027, making them one of the largest groups of illegal aliens apprehended, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

Satnam Singh ChahalPaying smuggling rings between $25,000-$50,000 per person, a growing number of Indians are illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border and claiming asylum for persecution .Many present viable claims, but a large number are economic migrants with fraudulent petitions that swamp the system and can cause legitimate cases to be “washed out” in the high volume of fraud.

Several Indians who entered the United States illegally every year did so over a three-mile stretch of border fence at Mexicali, “The word got out that Mexicali is a safe border city which favors their crossing into the United States. Asylum seekers range from unemployed Indians and some facing death threats for marrying outside their class to Sikhs claiming political persecution, immigration added Chahal.

Fraudulent asylum seekers often present “cut and paste” evidence identical to that of other migrants. Some 42.2 percent of Indian asylum cases were denied between fiscal years 2012 to 2017, according to Syracuse University’s Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse.

Indians still have some way to go to outnumber after being held in the United States, Indians are often bonded out of detention by human trafficking rings,. They then enter indentured servitude in businesses ranging from hotels to convenience stores to pay off smuggling debts and bond fees Chahal said.

It may be recalled that US Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of the nation’s borders at and between official ports of entry.
