Field Director, Chhatbir Zoo, Kalpana K. IFS informed that one of two surviving cubs of tigress Gauri died in neonatal care unit of veterinary hospital in Chhatbir Zoo, despite best efforts of the veterinary team for more than eight hours.
Divulging the details, the Field Director further said that one of the two surviving cubs of tigress Gauri which was three days old, was observed to have been gradually rejected by the mother on 06.08.2023.
This cub was separated from mother as per protocol and taken to neonatal care unit of veterinary hospital in Chhatbir Zoo but despite best efforts of the veterinary team for more than 8 hours it died the next day.
The mother is exhibiting normal behaviour with the other cub and the other cub is observed to be actively suckling and the zoo team is vigilantly monitoring the behaviour of mother and cub under 24×7 cctv surveillance.
